Moving on to the main floor

The ceiling or floor (depending on the view) is almost finished.

We will be walking across that daily in about... um.... three months??? Maybe???

The view from the main level.

Yes, there was a storm rolling in at the time.

Making progress

Starting to put the walls up on the back porch.... Lots and lots of windows!!!! Soooo Cool!!!

View from the inside. (This is what our bedroom will look like, except our room will be one floor up... oh, and less structural support beams randomly placed around the room.)

Here are a few of the trusses, (which I am told are necessary to support the floor on the main level). Supposedly, the main floor's exterior frames will be up by Monday.

And the framing begins...

Day 1 of Framing... exterior walls:

Day 2 of Framing.... interior walls:

By the end of the week, they should have the main level framed as well. They are fast!

Getting ready to pour

Preparing to pour our basement floor

"Fixing" the concrete after an unexpected rain.

It's not done yet.... keep watching for the finished concrete... stain and all.

They have also started the stem wall for the foundation. (The front 1/4 of the house doesn't have a basement, so a slab must be poured. Stayed tuned later this week for the results.)

Making Progress

After the walls were poured, they were tarred and then waterproofed. (Those are the untechnical terms)

Then, we filled the dirt back in around the walls.

Introducing our builder.... Richard!

(He's only flipped the bobcat once....so far!!!)

Welcome to the World of House Raising...

Ryan and I thought it would be fun to share with our friends the joys of watching our house rise.

So, I will do my best to post updates weekly (if not more).
Here is what has happened so far....

Enjoy!

So what you are seeing is the start of our walkout basement. (Ground on one side, open to the world in the back.)

Forms for pouring the basement walls

View of the future guest room in our basement.

Take a look at our saferoom/tornado shelter (also in the basement).

Finally, one more shot with a little bit of the view.

Preparing the Land

Before you build a house, you have to have a pad on which to set it.....

Behold the PAD!!!
